Friday Funnies

Hi,

It was very hot again today.  The air was very bad again today.  Hmm, Songkran began and the revelers didn’t seem to mind.

The ‘Zany Day’ song was “Taxman” by The Beatles.  Here’s an ‘Old School Friday’ tune that should be easy, even if you’re a youngish person (555).  “One, two, three o’clock, four o’clock rock.  Five, six seven o’clock, eight o’clock rock… We’re gonna __ __ __ __ tonight.”  Hint:  By a band with a clever name.

We stayed at home all day today.  Most places we might have gone were probably closed, the air was deemed very unhealthy, and we had stuff to do.  That ‘stuff’ consisted of a Songkran event.  The cleaning of the walk-in closet.  You see, it’s not just a closet, it’s also a storage area and that means things end up there when there’s nowhere else to go.  After ten years, well, you can imagine.  Natcha came up and helped us with the beginning, and then Gong helped clean and lift things back to the higher shelves.  Now it seems like a different room.

Parts of Chiang Rai were one big water fight today.  We saw photos posted by friends that showed their streets full of people, and no one was dry.  Through the years we have met many Thais who don’t participate in the throwing of water.  They enjoy the rest of the traditions, but that part they don’t like.  What began as a small sprinkle of water  to signify a blessing has turned into a reason to party and make mayhem.  In some cities the water activities are confined to certain streets.  There remains a nation-wide ban on cruising in pick-up trucks with huge drums of water, dowsing motorist as they pass by, still they do it.  So tacky.  Also, there are those who put ice cubes in the water, and others throw powder, which sticks to everything.  In spite of all that, ‘Sawadee Pee Mai’ (Happy New Year).

Neechanon knows where to go for fun.  Recently she bugged her parents to go to Central Plaza.  Upstairs they have a big play area for little kids, much like the Chucky Cheese chain in the States.  She and her older cousin had a fun afternoon there.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.    Now it’s time for the ‘Funnies’.

                   Peace,
                             Danny
