Friday Funnies

Hi,

Well, it rained last night, and it stayed dry all day.  It’s 7:30pm and a real storm just blew in bringing big thunder and lightning.  I think it’s going to be a long night.

The ‘Zany Day’ song this week stumped you all.  It was “Gris-Gris, Gumbo Ya Ya” by Dr. John.  If you’ve never heard it, click on the link.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4J8VrprrGE  Now it’s time for ‘Old School Friday’.
“They asked me how I knew my true love was true.  I of course replied, something here inside cannot be denied.  They said some day you’ll find all who love are blind.  When your heart’s on fire, you must realize __ __ __ __ __.”
Hint:  This song was originally written in 1933, but this 1958 recording became a major hit in the US as well as the UK.  The group name comes from a slang word for a record (some of you might remember these 555).

Yesterday, while we were in town, there were dark clouds but no rain.  Little did we know that it was raining back at The Big Brown House.  Farther north, it rained very heavily, creating flooding at Maefahluang University and also at the border with Burma.  The area surrounding us seems to have good ‘run off’, but the lower areas are having problems.

Blue and I spent the day at home.  Lisa went to Chivit Tamma Da with our friend Sutheera for a ‘Ladies Lunch’.  They had a wonderful time by the river.  Sutheera recently returned from a trip to Hong Kong.  It’s one of the places we’d like to see someday, along with Kunming, also in China.

Getting news about Thailand, in Thailand is very interesting.  There are two newspapers in Bangkok that have on-line editions.  There are plenty of things to learn and keep up with when the mood strikes.  There are some things where one needs historical background in order to keep up.  Then there is Yahoo News.  We have found that we can get a lot of news about Thailand that we don’t see in the ‘local’ papers.  I won’t go into the whys and wherefores, but if you want to catch up on Thailand news, just scroll through Yahoo and you’re bound to find an article or two.

All of a sudden, it’s quiet outside.  The storm seems to be over.  That doesn’t mean it’s not still raining, it’s just being quiet about it.  It also means we can plug our computer cords back into the wall.  We always unplug them when there’s big lightning, even though we have two lightning rods on the roof.

Today’s photo was taken 2 years ago (not by me).  The Night Bazaar flooded and the Thai Dancers posed for this classic shot.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.         Time for the ‘Funnies’.

              Peace,
                        Danny
