Friday Funnies

Hi,

Chiang Rai spent the day trying to dry out from another storm.  We learned a new word and the student is in 'study hall'.

The 'Zany Day' song was "Killer Queen" by Queen.  Maybe you remember this classic 'Old School Friday' tune:
"__ __ __ __, to love you dear.  __ __ __ __, to hold you near.  __ __ __ __, to squeeze you dear, that's why I love you so..."  Hint:  This 'slow song' should bring responses from the 'older set'.  It has to do with a very special evening.
Sung by a group with a very long R&B history of hits.

This morning we woke up to a very soggy yard, due to the big storm last night.  I can remember hearing rolling thunder in the distance around 1:30am.  Later there was some of the loudest rain I have experienced.  It must have been pretty hard because the sound is what everyone is talking about.  There's no flooding up here, but in other areas near Bangkok, villages are having to use boats to get around.  Many fear a repeat of the 2011 floods.  We may start stocking up on certain items if major shipping roads are impacted.

We had another productive morning in the streets of Chiang Rai.  It was mostly routine, and didn't require as many U-Turns as yesterday. (555)  We did figure out another adaptation of English when we picked up our vacuum from the 'Fan Guy'.  On the phone it didn't make sense, but when Lisa spoke to his wife today we realized they were saying:
'Wahcoom'.  The W replaces the V, of course, and it all makes perfect sense.  Now you know.

This afternoon Cat told us she had to go back to school tomorrow (Saturday) and take her chemistry test again.  She missed the minimum score by one point.  She is currently in her room studying.  We had a good talk about it, and we think she'll do fine.  She didn't study for it the first time, so with concentrated effort, who knows?

Today's photo was taken a few years ago, but never shared.  It on one of the hilly streets in the shopping district of Mae Sai, near the border with Burma.  The young mother is pushing her cart up the hill with her baby in a sling on her back.   Scenes like this help keep things in perspective.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.  Time for the 'Funnies'.

                    Peace,
                               Danny
