Be Yourself

Hi,

The rain tiptoed around Chiang Rai today.  There was a tiny sprinkle at one point, but it stayed dry enough for the yard crew to come and clean things up.

A few more people figured out that the 'Easy Monday' song was "Girl" by The Beatles.  'Zany Day' is next.  Ready?
"She keeps her Moet et Chandon in her pretty cabinet.  'Let them eat cake' she says, just like Marie Antoinette.  A built-in remedy for Khrushchev and Kennedy.  At anytime an invitation you can't decline.  Caviar and cigarettes, well versed in etiquette, extraordinarily nice.  She's a __ __ gunpowder, guillotine, dynamite with a laser beam..."  Clue:  There is a definite royal flavor to this one.  Not a king in sight.

This morning we had coffee at Art Bridge.  The morning air was cool, it was very quiet, and everything felt light.  We had just done our shopping at Makro, there was nothing pressing and we were enjoying the moment.   There is a funny menu story that I must pass on.  There is an item that reads: 'Pork River'.  What it should say is: 'Pork Liver' but someone translated it the way they speak English.  Here in the North, Rs and Ls are inter-changable in Thai, and apparently in English as well, though not with good results.

Today's photo is a great example of a 'play on words' involving the R and L switching.  Very 'Western' tongue-in-cheek.   It's located in Chiang Mai in the upscale district.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the yard crew was busy cutting, clipping and planting.  We had another banana tree 'baby' planted in the front yard.  The first tree has a long bunch that are in the process of maturing.  The coconut trees provided a mild harvest and according to the yard people, they're very good.  They saved us some this time.

This evening during dinner, Cat told us about her tests today.  The English test went well, but the Chemistry and Thai were very difficult.  Hmm, that's a lot to deal with in one day.  Tomorrow we're going to get some sticky rice.  It's something she's used to eating.  I like it sometimes, especially with fresh mango, which is in season right now.  Yum.

It's time for Wacky Wednesday.

                Peace,
                           Danny
