Start

Hi,

It's hard to believe that we didn't have any rain today. Just a warm, cloudy day. We mostly hung out at the house, fixing this and that, and Lisa finished another cast acrylic print. I did get to witness the afternoon traffic, which is back in full force since school started.

It would appear that this song from the 'Summer of Love' has left your memory. What a shame that you forgot.
"Life is too short to have sorrow. You may be here today, and gone tomorrow. You might as well get what you want, so go on and live, baby, go on and live. __ __ __ __ __, I'm nothin' to play with, go and find yourself a toy. But I-I-I-I __ __ __ __ __ my time is too expensive, and I'm not your little boy..." Hint: This soulful ballad by a New Orleans native sparked later duets with Linda Ronstadt. Before this tune he sang with his brothers, using the family's last name. I'm just tellin' it like it was.

There are many flowering trees here in Chiang Rai. They seem to bloom in some kind of sequence. There are big, full trees that have purple blossoms, which are followed by the big yellow blossomed trees, and now we get to enjoy the ones with bright orange flowers. It's quite a show when riding around town. Our gardens have really enjoyed the rain, producing lots of color.

It looks like our social calendar will be busy this weekend. Saturday we've been invited to an afternoon party at the home of our friends Gary and Bahn. Then, on Sunday, we're having dinner with Poui and Jimmy, who have been living in Australia and are here until the end of the month.

Something that one notices while traveling around this town is the abundance of places to eat. There's everything from fancy restaurants to motorbikes with a side-car kitchen attached. One spot we pass in the evening is on the edge of a parking lot. Every afternoon you can see them setting up their canopy, tables, and chairs in preparation for their evening clientele. They seem to do a good business every night. It proves the saying: "If you build it, they will come."

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

Peace,
Danny
