Lost

Hi,

We had a very busy weekend and the week ahead shows no sign of letting up. With a week and a day remaining, there is still lots to do and many people to see. I see a vacation in the future.

Our Friday song was answered by many. "Since I Don't Have You" by The Skyliners. It's 'Easy Monday' and I know you know this one: "And if she should tell you 'come closer', and if she tempts you with her charms, __ __ __.... Don't hurt me now for her love belongs to me." Hint: The group name is all the rage in movies these days, the song is asking the listener to turn down advances from the girl he loves. Hmm.

Friday we had lunch with our friends Kerrina and Michael and their three kids, which is always a treat. In the afternoon we met with Blue and Ming for a final visit with Ming before he returns to Stanford. He brought us a copy of his business plan for the Doi Chaang Coffee project. In between visits there were errands to run and business to attend to.

Saturday we attended funeral services for Cousin Marion. As is usually the case, it turned out to be a bittersweet family reunion. There were cousins we hadn't seen since long before we moved to Thailand so it was great to see them again.

After the service, and a gathering at the family home, we drove up to Benedict Canyon for a reunion of a different sort. Lisa has reconnected with a childhood friend by way of Facebook. They haven't seen each other since Lisa was 18. McKinley found Lisa while we were still in Thailand and they've been catching up since then.

Sunday we went to an afternoon party and then spent the rest of the day with the Valley Cousins. It's always a joy to hang out with the family. We sat outside until we couldn't take it anymore. Yes, we're still not handling the cold too well. We were brought up-to-date on all the happenings. It was also the first time we'd had Mexican food since we've been back.

The overnight temp in Chiang Rai was 68 degrees, with daytime highs in the low 80's. I can handle that.

Have a Great Week.

Peace,
Danny

PS: Christopher wrote to tell me that Friday's quote is by Hilary Cooper.

"You might not know what you lost before it's gone.
On the other hand you might not know what you're missing until it
arrives."
