LIfe

Hi,

The weather in Chiang Rai is a study in contrast. This morning it started out cold and turned into a beautiful, warm day. We continued with the prep for the coming art show, the dogs munched leaves, I had coffee with a friend, and we went to an art show opening this evening.

Well, the 'Easy' song turned out to be a hard one, based on the response. It was "Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind?" by The Lovin' Spoonful. I even gave you obvious clues. Oh well, maybe you remember this one:
"You get up every morning from your 'larm clock's warning, take the 8:15 into the city. There's a whistle up above, and people pushin', people shovin', and the girls who try to look pretty..." Hint: A great boogie tune doin' what needs to be done, by a group that's a hyphenate.

It's wintertime here, but it's not what you'd expect. Jackets are needed in the early morning, but by the afternoon, only one layer is required. There has been a forecast for rain, but we've seen that before and nothing happened. It would be nice to have a little rain. Not the kind in California, just an afternoon shower. We've been keeping up with what's been going on with the weather over there. We hope everyone is doing OK. Stay warm and dry if you can.

Across the street from our house there is a stand of teak trees. They have big leaves, some are 8 or 9 inches wide. This time of year the trees shed their leaves and if the breeze is just right, they blow into our front yard. For some unknown reason, the dogs treat them like potato chips. They love to pounce on one, bite it, and then lie down and eat the whole thing. This afternoon Boot and Lisa picked up all the leaves and when I took Daku out this evening, he covered the whole yard looking for them.

We took the last of Lisa's art to the frame shop today. Khun Noy is going to deliver the whole batch to the hotel on Friday for the hanging of the show. The work of the four artists will go on display Saturday, but the official opening will be later.

My friend Marty, who lives in Pai, was in town on his way to Mae Sai. We had coffee at Doi Chaang and talked of many things. The area where he lives is southeast of us and is a very beautiful part of the country. Some day we'll get down there and take in the scenery.

Our evening was spent at 9 Gallery for the opening of a show by the owner of the gallery. Khun Sompong and his wife Nai have created a setting for local artists to display their work. His show was titled "Daddy's Home". Of course I immediately thought of the song. When we got to the gallery, Nai asked us if the meaning was 'Daddy is home' or 'Daddy's house'. I explained that I understood it to mean that Daddy was home. She smiled. Then I told her there was an old song by the same title, and she told us she knew it and began to sing it. We all laughed.

It's time for Wacky Wednesday.

Peace,
Danny
