Hi,
The rain is gone and we're back to hot days and now, warm nights. That will be the forecast for the next few weeks.
It was an 'Easy Monday' for some of you, but the rest of you may need to consult a psychic. Here's some more:
"Every time you go away, I always say, 'This time it's goodbye, dear'. Loving you the way I do, I take you back, without you I'd die, dear, knowing I love you. So, __ __ __ __ __ would take my in his arms and love me too. You couldn't really have a heart and hurt me like you hurt me and be so untrue. What am I to do?" Hint: A bit melodramatic, but you get the idea. The thing we're talking about here, is something everyone has physically, but that's not the issue.
Sunday morning we went out to survey the yards after the storm. The front lawn was covered with debris from the big teak trees across the road. There were clusters of tiny branches and lots of seed pods. The dogs kept getting little branches stuck in their fur. BamBam didn't seem to mind dragging nature around, but Daku can't stand it. We picked up the big pieces so they could play. The door that blew open during the storm also had a screen door that got bent and broken. It's time for a new design for that whole doorway.
Monday we went from Makro to the home of an artist friend we've known for years. He lives in a tract called 'Country Homes Estate' and it sounded quite fancy. When we arrived at the soi and began our approach to the empty guard gate, it looked like a scene from a movie where everyone fled in a hurry. A few of the houses are occupied and some are under renovation, but no one has tended the grounds for a long time. At the end of the main road, we came to the house Cornelis has lived in for about 10 years. The architecture for the whole place is sort of European, which works for him since he's from Holland. Inside, it was like going to a cool artists house in San Francisco. There was stuff to look at everywhere you looked. A string puppet collection hanging over the kitchen sink, a bucket full of ballet pointe shoes, and a movie collection in alphabetical order. He showed us his library/work room and it was amazing. One wall was nothing but biographies of artists and musicians. We saw some of his work in progress and some unframed pieces.
As we left, we met his two little dogs. I'm sure we will return for a longer visit.
By the end of the afternoon on Monday, Boot and Kwang had cleaned up the front lawn. The yard looked beautiful again. It seems like every day the water gets a little bit warmer. We swam again and now it's back in our schedule.
There is a funny thing that happens when we ask any of our Thai friends to tell us what something written in Thai says. They always say, "It talk about..." It's just one of those things that goes by until you think about it. In English we would say: "It says..." or we might read it. I guess translating something, the tendency is to summarize what it's 'talking' about. Hmm.
Have a Happy Tuesday.
Peace,
Danny
