Enough

Hi,

The last few days have been full of happenings.  It may take a few days to tell you everything.  Rain is the big news.  Saturday and Sunday rain cleared the air and lowered the temps, temporarily.  This gave us a chance to enjoy our first swim of the season.

'Old School Friday' was "Stubborn Kind of Fellow" performed by Marvin Gaye.  You shoulda known.  On to 'Easy Monday':  "Anyone who ever loved, could look at me and know that I love you.  Anyone who ever dreamed, could look at me and know I dream of you, knowing I love you.  So, __ __ __ __ __ would take me in his arms and love me, too..."
Hint:  The first word of the title is sung twice before the title is sung.  The singer finally knows how to get to San Jose.

Friday night we went to Le Meridien Resort for a wine/Sprite tasting party.  Our friend Pat met us there and we had lots of fun.  We met the new General Manager and his wife and really hit it off with both of them.  There were some people we knew, but lots we didn't know.  As the evening progressed, the noise level went up and we would take little 'sound breaks' outside.  There was also an interesting exchange with a woman from the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.

Saturday was the big day as far as our 'Dance Card' was concerned.  The grand opening of Art Bridge was scheduled to begin at 5pm.  We arrived at 5:10 and realized they had started much earlier.  What?  We missed a bunch of stuff, but were there for the bulk of the ceremony.  We took Tatt with us since he's interested in art and has lived here for a year.  Hundreds of people from the community turned out for this historical event.  After the speeches and a special painting by Tawan Duchanee (which will be sold for 1mil Baht) the doors to the main gallery were opened.  At the same time, food was starting to be served in the outdoor restaurant.  Right after the gallery opened the wind began to blow very hard and then the rain came.  Most of the attendees were inside and some didn't even know it happened.  We saw many friends, and made some new ones.  Lisa was interviewed by a young American living in Chiang Mai who was writing a piece for an entertainment paper there.  While people roamed the gallery, ate and visited, there were various performances going on as well.  An a cappella choir sang in the middle of the gallery and the effect was very dramatic.  Outside, a woman did a traditional Thai dance that was magical, and a famous flute player gave a mini-concert.  Then there was a traditional band who performed on a tiny platform by the restaurant.  We have to go back because we didn't get to see everything.  It was a great day for the art community and for Chiang Rai.

We had to leave Art Bridge to go to Chezmoi for their annual fashion show.  We dropped Tatt off at the house and discovered that a door had blown open and water had come inside.  After a quick clean up, we left for part two of our adventure.  The sudden wind and rain caused the crew at Chezmoi to cancel the workshop they were having in the street in front of their store.  When we got there, they were getting ready for the show so we just hung out and met people.   We had a long, interesting conversation with a young woman from America.  Besides being a professional songwriter, she started a project called 'Inspire Hope' and is here for a month working with an Akha village in the hills.  It was cool talking music and service with a young person.  Once the show started, we were blown away by the imagination of the designers.  The title of the show was "From Paradise to Skyfall".  I'm not exactly sure what that means, but all of the fashions were costume-like and all the models had wings.  It was another great show and when they post photos, I'll direct you with a link.  Here's a pic of some of the creations.

Tomorrow I'll fill you in on our Sunday and Monday.

Have a Great Week,

                Peace,

that is enough for one man's (person's) life."
