Beauty

Hi,

Today we were out and about.  Chiang Rai is returning to normal and we jumped into the current.  It was nice to be moving around with no surprise splashes on the windows.

I guess we could call this one 'Zany Easy' since so many of you know it.  It got a second life in a musical, but the original is the bomb.  "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?  Voulez-vous coucher avec moi.  (repeat)  Creole __ __."  Hint:  What? You need a hint after that line.

During this hot season it is essential that all the fans work properly.  This morning we had to visit 'Fan Guy' with one of our sick fans.  You know something is wrong when you tell it to go and it barely moves.  It may be time for a new one.  I have a suspicion that some products have a timer inside that causes them to just stop, forcing you to get a new one.

We left the house with a list of things to do but no particular order.  Big C was at the top of the list so we started in that direction.  'Oh, the bus station is on the way.'  We're going to Chiang Mai the first weekend in May for an art exhibit and we're taking the VIP Bus.  There were lines in the station so we continued toward 'The C'.  'Oh look, the dog supply store.'  After stocking up on treats we finally made it to Big C.

The parking lot was a little crowded, considering it was mid-morning on a Thursday.  Then we realized a lot of people are still on vacation and this is the time to catch up on shopping.  Inside the store we just needed a few things.  One of the things we were searching for was a can of compressed air for cleaning the dust out of things like the computers.  It turns out nobody had what we wanted.  The final suggestion from everyone was 'Centrun', meaning Central Plaza.  Many schools are out right now and the back-to-school shopping is just getting started.  There is a big area at Big C devoted to uniforms for different schools.  It's quite a scene when it gets closer to the first day back, the shelves and displays look like a tornado went through.  A time to stay away.  (555)

There is an alley that we use as a short cut between the highway and Clock Tower street.  When we leave the highway and go down the alley we end up facing a very dramatic temple entrance.  Today I paused so Lisa could capture the scene for you.  Next, we'll have to see what's behind the gate.  In the distance you can see a Naga, a type of dragon.

After Big C we had just enough time to get the car washed before lunch.  We knew that it was their first day to be open after Songkran and lots of cars and trucks would need a wash.  The assumption was correct and it took about an hour.  Hanging out at Doi Chaang Coffee is a pleasant way to pass the time and beat the heat.  It's also a place where we're likely to see friends.  Today our friend John came in and while he waited for his friends we had a great visit.  He told us about his motorcycle racing accident, and how he's buying new bikes that go faster.  What?  We brought him up to speed on Art Bridge and we made plans to have lunch before he and his wife move to Bangkok.

The elusive, mystery bakery that made the delicious cookies was finally located today, but the're still closed.  There was construction going on so I'm still waiting.  Oh well.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

                  Peace,
                             Danny
