Happiest

Hi,

Things are winding down in Chiang Rai.  The scene was much lighter today, as was the traffic.  The rain is still missing.

It looks like 'Easy Monday' wasn't so easy.  A modern song and you don't reply.  Back to the oldies next week.
"And if you said this life ain't good enough I would give my world to lift you up.  I could change my life to better suit your mood, 'cause you're so __."  Clue:  Looks like the singer has met his black magic woman, somewhat like silk.  One word, use your imagination.

This morning I took Lisa to her massage.  The traffic was very light, since many businesses will be closed for a new more days.  Later in the morning there were only a few stray 'water trucks' roaming around.  I guess most of the revelers are played out.  This year it seems like the whole scene was a little mellower than last year.  Of course, we didn't venture onto the busiest streets at the craziest times either.  Sunday night is 'Happy Street' on Sankhong Road and this year they had a Songkran Party.  You can just imagine what that must have been like.  One whole neighborhood thoroughfare blocked off and turned into a water-tossing party zone.  Hmm.

There are some fairly standard types of buildings here in Chiang Rai.  There are shophouses, which are two or three story rows of business dwellings joined together, there are big boxy buildings, there are houses that are either traditional Thai or Western with Thai influence, and sometimes there are extreme exceptions.  One of my current, favorite exceptions is the design of @night.  It almost looks like something from a theme park, with its glass chimney and tilted roof.

The rain tease is still going on here.  Afternoon clouds appear, we hear thunder in the distance and then the clouds are blown away.  Now the predictions are calling for rain on Monday.  In other parts of the country they've been getting rain, but we just bake and wait.  One of the ironies of Songkran this year is that many farmers have given up because of a draught, yet the streets are filled with people throwing buckets of water.

Have a Happy Tuesday,

                 Peace,
                            Danny

best of everything, they just make the most of
everything that comes along their way."
