Rules

Hi,

So, we landed at LAX this morning and experienced cold fog.  Nobody told me about that.  The weather will be colder than Chiang Rai, but we’re ready for it.  The little apartment where we stay was decorated with lots of holiday cheer and gave us a warm, homey feeling.  Anna left lots of special touches around.  One of my faves is the space heater.

The ‘Old School Friday’ song was that old holiday standard, “Santa Baby” by Eartha Kitt.  ‘Easy Monday’ should be familiar to some:  “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose.  Yuletide carols being sung by a choir and folks dressed up like Eskimos…”  Hint:  The title is not sung, but is a very simple description of the song itself.

The Saturday birthday party for Nukoon was a lot of fun.  We learned a lot about Japan from Nukoon’s sister Jen and her son Pui.  They go back and forth to different regions and are in love with the place.  Two of Nukoon’s grandkids are old enough to participate in the party now and had a ball blowing out the candles on the three cakes that were provided.

Here’s a photo of Nukoon and the ‘older’ grandkids waiting to blow out the candles.

Cat spent the day with us on Sunday, helping us with anything we needed to do.  It made a big difference with all the trips upstairs and helping with the dogs.  When it was time to go to the airport, Cat and her boyfriend, who works there, helped us out with the luggage and wheelchairs.  The kids really came through.

In Bangkok the wheelchair guys were wild and crazy, but with a sense of humor.  They zigged and zagged through the crowds, making it feel like driving a race course at high speed.  The relative difference of sitting in a chair is amazing.  We passed some people sleeping on the floor and my guy called it ‘Lie down stand-by’.  The most wonderful part of it is not having to stand in lines for the immigration process.

The actual flights were not as painful as I anticipated.  The seats in the enhanced coach section are very comfortable and our seats were near the restroom so it wasn’t as complicated as we thought.  Going back should be much better if we take it easy and let ourselves heal while we’re here.

Off to get phone numbers and then take a nap.  It’s good to be here.

Have a Great Week.  Merry Everything and a Happy Always.

               Peace,
                         Danny
