Life

Hi,

The weekend weather in Chiang Rai was the usual ‘Hot’.  Sunday night we had rain and it was wonderful.  The morning air today was clean and clear.  By late afternoon the culprits were back with a stinky fire.

The ‘Old School Friday’ song was “Rock and Roll Music” by Chuck Berry.  ‘Easy Monday’ is old, but very easy:  “Look at me, I’m as helpless as a kitten up a tree, and I feel like I’m clinging to a cloud, I can’t understand.  I get __, just holding your hand”.  Hint:  Really, a hint?

The big news from The Big Brown House is that the pool is finished and was enjoyed Sunday afternoon.  The little family was the first to slip into the water.  Neetchanon, being held by Gong, had a ball.  That inspired us and we were quick to go in and do a few laps.  The water wasn’t at the ideal temperature, but it was fine for swimming.

Today’s photos are the pool, of course.

Sunday was a rather full day.  We drove up to the home of Somluk and Tamako, owners of Doy Din Dang Ceramics, for coffee and a tour of their new additions.  Somluk wanted us to see where he had hung one of Joe’s works.  The location was in a room where they hang out and relax.  It was the perfect place.  One of Lisa works is also hanging in their home.  That was pretty exciting.  After seeing the wonderful collections of ceramics and art, we had coffee and fruit and conversation.  We really enjoyed their company and the time flew by.

On our way to lunch at The Wanderer, we stopped in at Fong-Nom, the milk shop where Cat works.  We’d never been there before so it was a special visit for all of us.  She made us an iced tea drink and told us about some of the things they offer.  A lot of the dishes are toast-based, then they pile on various toppings.  There is one variation that is constructed in a small, hollowed out loaf of bread.  The shop is on a side street near her university.  It’s one of those places with no front wall, so on a hot day like yesterday, the temperature can be overwhelming.  Now we can visualize where she is when she’s at work.

Daku and Neetchanon have what seems like a different relationship lately.  He has moments when he will let her touch his face and he doesn’t try to lick her or run away.  She’s also learning how to pet him instead of grab.  He still doesn’t understand that she is a fragile little person and sometimes when he walks through the kitchen, his tail knocks her down accidentally.  He’ll figure it out with some help.

Temps will be in the 90s all week, so it’s likely that we’ll be dipping into the pool when the air is clear.

Have a Great Week.

                       Peace,
                                 Danny
