We just had a rainy season in one day (555). It poured all day, took a break for a few hours, and started up again.
The 'Zany Day' song was "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley. It's time-travel time and another chapter of 'Old School Friday'. "They asked me how I knew my true love was true. I of course replied, something here inside cannot be denied. They said someday you'll find all who love are blind. When your heart's on fire you must realize __ __ __ __ __." Clue: This R&B ballad was used in a soundtrack as recently as 2001. It was first released in 1958 by a group named for a slang word for a record (a disc used to play music long ago). Something is clouding the vision. Hmm.
We only ventured out into the rain to pick up some lunch. The puddles in our area were huge, and we witnessed a motorbike getting drenched by a car. The traffic was very light for a Friday lunch hour. There had been a major forecast about today's storm so I guess people were heeding the warnings. It wasn't torrential, just a constant downpour. It was the kind of rain that brings out sandbags to prevent flooding. One nice side benefit of the storm was a much cooler day.
In another episode of 'It's Different', Cat takes a van to school and back every day. This van is operated by an independent contractor who gets a sticker from the city, and makes arrangements to pick up kids and transport them. Some vans have a moderate number of students, while others are packed. Cat's driver recently told her he will no longer be offering his service, which costs about $16 per month. This meant that she had to find another van to take her to school. After asking other students, her driver found another van for her and she will start with him on Monday. For a few days she didn't know what would happen, but it all worked out.
Down the road from us is the Rimkok Hotel. They seem to be catering to groups that want to go trekking. Almost every morning we see a caravan of Jeep-type vehicles come past the house with foam coolers on the roof racks, and four to six tourists per truck. We don't know where they go, but the transport company is doing a good business. Today we saw them parading down the road and wondered what they were going to do in the downpour. Hmm, one can only speculate. My thought was a trip to the waterfall (555).
Today's photo is from Lu Lum Restaurant, and it appears to be the remains of an old boat dock. An overgrown path led down to the entrance. It was probably used to transport guests from hotels to the restaurant.
If the rain continues through the weekend we will have tennis from the U.S. Open to pass the time.
