Thought

Hi,

Today, or night (it's dark outside), I'm writing to you from high about the Sea of Okhotsk. We're flying southwest toward Japan. We finished our visit with a grand slam. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all with notable friends.

The 'Easy Monday' song was "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Your mid-week challenge is one we played with a few years ago. It's actually another easy one: "All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go, I'm standing here outside your door, I hate to wake you up to say good-bye..." Hint: The hint, like before, is '1970', the year of the song.

Tuesday morning Lisa had breakfast with her friend McKinley. I stayed home and organized all my 'stuff' for packing. I also spent some time with C-Bass. Three weeks is just long enough to put things in places you forgot, or at least take enough out of the bags that it makes you wonder how it all got in there in the first place.

Marina del Rey seems to be the popular spot for lunch on this trip. Lisa met with Jeff for lunch and I went on a hunt for the last three things on the last list. I managed to find one of them and a little lunch. We had a big laugh when I mentioned we could go by a stationary store that's been gone for years. I had a current store in mind, but said 'Culver Stationary'. If you've lived in the area then you know that place closed about 15 years ago. (Ha)

We had our last dinner at Emerald Thai. Nid, who runs the place, is a dear friend and we hadn't had a chance to sit and talk with him. When we originally told him we were moving to Thailand he immediately started teaching us Thai. At least he tried. We had a light meal and mostly talked about how he's doing. It seemed like it meant a lot to him that we came by. It was a warm visit that we'll remember for quite awhile.

The time before our flight was spent with The Boys. C-Bass and August hung out in our apartment and while August read to Lisa, C-Bass and I flipped through the pages of Star magazine, discussing the ins and outs of the 'star making machinery'. Lots of big laughs and '15 year old' questions. When it was time to go there were many hugs, but they handled it the best of any trip. It's still difficult for us to leave them, but we're all getting a little more graceful about it.

It's been a busy three weeks, but well worth the effort. There are many friends that I didn't get to spend enough (or any) time with but we'll be back in the summer. Until then, there's email, and a primitive thing called the telephone.

Peace,
Danny

PS You will be getting another message today with 'Flight Time' as the subject.
