Friday Funnies

Hi,

The rain last night was some kind of 'make up rain'.  It soaked the yards and they were very happy this morning.  Late last night I had to take the dogs out and it was like walking through a marsh.  Slosh, slosh, slosh.  Today was hot and humid.

The 'Zany Day' song was "Mercedes Benz" by Janis Joplin.  It's time once again for 'Old School Friday' and I'm sure you know this one:  "You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips.  And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips.  You're trying hard not to show it, (baby).  But baby I know it, __ __ __ __ __, whoa that __ __.  __ __ __ __ __ now it's gone, gone, gone, wooooh."  Clue:  Something is missing, gone, not there anymore.  It's by two brothers who weren't really brothers or brothers.  What?

This morning we drove up the highway to Makro.  Driving through Ban Mai, the village next to us, we noticed big progress on several structures.  It's hard to tell what they will be since everything begins with the same basic format.  Some will be shop houses and others will be apartments.  It usually isn't until the final phase of construction that one can tell the purpose.  Makro was busy this morning since it was a holiday and many people were off work.  Lots of businesses and schools were closed.

This afternoon we had coffee with our friend Andrew.  He is the manager of AUA, a language school that mostly teaches English to Thai students.  They also offer lessons in Thai and we took some when we first arrived here.  We talked about the growth of Chiang Rai, places to go that we haven't seen, and the many ways English is being taught.  Andrew is going to show us some cool places he's found outside of town that are fun getaways.

A couple of weeks ago when we were in Chiang Mai, we went into a little shop that had lots of wood carvings and homemade items.  The owner was not around, which we found curious.  He seemed to leave visitors on an honor system.  The sign on the wall told us he is a trusting soul.

The weekend forecasts call for showers.  That would be nice, as long as they don't get carried away.  (555)

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.    Stay tuned for the 'Funnies'.

                   Peace,
                              Danny
