Hi,
This morning we woke up to rain. We had visitors, did some visiting of our own, and I finished a 'handy' project.
There's nothing like second day clues to bring the mail. Of course, it helps when the clues give it away. The song was "Rose Garden" and the hit was sung by Lynn Anderson. It was written by Joe South, who recorded it first, but Anderson's was the one that started a chain of covers.
For the weekend, ponder this: "Feelin' down and dirty, feelin' kinda mean, I've been from one to another extreme.
This time I had a good time, ain't got time to wait, I wanna stick around till I can't see straight. Fill my eyes with that __ __. No disguise for that __ __ ....My __ __ gets the best of me." Hint: Two words that describe something that happens to two eyes, twice at the same time. Huh. It's a '79 hit by a big rock group of the time.
When we woke up this morning it seemed darker than usual. Opening the curtains revealed why. It was raining and looked like it had been for awhile. It wasn't a hard rain, but water was falling from the sky. It finally stopped completely around 9:30 and the rest of the day was overcast. It was a nice relief from the hot, humid days we've been having. It was also nice to have light rain right after the planting of the trees and flower bed plants.
Late morning, Sutheera came by with her mother and the little girl that they're raising. It's always fun when they come over because there are lots of questions and laughing and our Thai is challenged. Sutheera is a teacher so she's always giving us little chances to learn something new. That's one of the nice things about trying to learn the language. Everyone is willing to contribute to your education. Sutheera said we shouldn't worry about the language gap. She said, 'You're here'. Hmm.
After our nap/coffee we went downtown to visit Jen and 'The Boys' at the tractor store. In the course of conversation we found out that son Nui and Dr. Nan are getting married in January. Unfortunately we'll be in America and will miss it. They will video the event so we can see, and Nan said they'll just have to have another party when we return. From the tractor store we traveled up to Clock Tower street and popped in on Nat, our friend from Chiang Mai who designs jewelry and has become quite an entrepreneur. We're going to have her over for lunch next week.
Our two doorbell buttons (for Boot's house and ours) out by the front gate had a little plastic hood over them for protection. It cracked from the sun and started falling apart so I improvised and made a new one, rehung he remote buttons and weather sealed it (I hope).
It's time for the 'Funnies'. Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.
Peace,
Danny
The following are quotes from science exams taken by school children:
Water is composed of two gins, Oxygin and Hydrogin. Oxygin is pure
gin. Hydrogin is gin and water.
H20 is hot water, C02 is cold water.
Mushroom always grow in damp places so they look like umbrellas.
The body consists of three parts - the branium, the borax, and the
abominable cavity. The branium contains the brain, the borax contains
the heart & lungs, the abominable cavity contains the bowels, of which
there are five - a, e, i, o, and u.
Rhubarb: a kind of celery gone bloodshot.
For a head cold, use an agonizer spray to spray the nose until it
drops in your throat.
