Hi,
Today we had more fun with language, and rush hour traffic. Friends got invitations to the opening of the art show and we want to swim really bad.
Our Wednesday song was a bit of a challenge for some. It was "Nightshift" by The Commodores and it was a lyrical tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson. If you don't know those names, you need to Google and then write me. (Ha)
For the weekend: "...workin' on our __ __, tryin' to make some front page drive-in news. Workin' on our __ __, in the summertime." Hint: Title has something in common with the previous song. This is a song of reflection in a different vein.
Doing business on the phone can be taxing even if both parties are speaking the same language. If you factor in two different languages it becomes a nightmare/comedy of errors. We have come to understand that it helps to see the other person, and to be able to use whatever visual tools that might help. Yesterday we got the impression, from the words spoken, that one of Lisa's paintings was at a wedding photo shop around the corner from the frame shop. We were even given the number of the owner. We just wanted to take a picture before it was framed. Today we discover that the painting is at the frame shop and was never at the wedding place. What? One word can take a conversation miles off course. The fact that someone has a little vocabulary doesn't necessarily mean they 'speak' the language.
Four o'clock in the afternoon is when a lot of schools end their day and it begins what I call the traffic window. If you're on the street after four, just be aware. Today we were right in the middle of it on the Highway. It took a few light sequences to get to our turn and then it was an obstacle course through town. One thing's for sure, it sharpens your driving skills, perks up your attention, and quickens your wits. Oh yeah, it can also piss you off.
Our new internet package is not as fast as it's supposed to be but it's much better than before. We've made a couple of Skype calls without it sounding like talking underwater or full of static. Now I'm going to finish watching the Friday practice for the Formula One race in Hungary on Sunday. Will you be there? (Ha)
Have a Cool WeekEnd. Enjoy the 'Funnies'.
Peace,
Danny
Summer Exercise Routine
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags. Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.) After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.
