Hi,
Well, needless to say the jet lag has set in and another theory goes down the drain. We woke up early yesterday, got sleepy in the afternoon, and again in the early evening. Woke up early again today. Oh well.
The song that a bunch of us were humming yesterday was "Baby Come Back" by Player. Now you know.
All around the world people are paying tribute to the late Michael Jackson. For the weekend identify this tune:
"Oh baby give me one more chance (show you that I love you) Won't you please let me (back in your heart)..."
Clue: You know who did it (I hope). It's a continuing theme from the last song. Now I've completely given it away.
Returning to America brings some subtle challenges that might not come to mind. For instance, there are greetings and responses that become automatic. Now, they are not understood. There is a form of broken English that is totally necessary in Thailand but would make me sound like I was 'talking down' to you if you heard it. In fact, Lisa catches some of these patterns in my writing and we have a good laugh. An example would be: 'What are you doing?' comes out 'What you do?' Simple and to the point, but not considered good English.
Driving in America: Pedestrians have the right of way. It's not OK to turn in front of on-coming traffic. The turn signal lever is on the left, and the wipers are on the right. Yesterday I hit the wipers way too many times. Driving on the other side of the road (the left side) is against the law in most situations. Double parking is frowned upon. I am enjoying the way traffic flows in an orderly fashion. I suppose the threat of road rage or a ticket might have something to do with it. Hmm.
Yesterday we made the rounds of our favorite suppliers of necessary items. You know what I mean. Target, Vitamin World, Trader Joe's, etc. SoCal fixes. (Ha) There's stuff you just can't find in Chiang Rai. If only they would raise the weight limit at the airlines.
This weekend we get busy. Lunches, dinners, a wedding and more. I'll fill in the blanks for you on Monday. I would like to direct your attention to the links at the bottom of this message. The Risingstardom link has changes and so has the site. Ming Johnson has taken it to another level. Be sure to stop by and check out the informative posts by him and his dad 'Bangkok Blue' Johnson.
It's time for the 'Funnies'. Have a Warm, Wonderful WeekEnd.
Peace,
Danny
An 8-year-old girl went to her dad, who was working in the yard. She
asked him, "Daddy, what is sex?" The father was surprised that she
would ask such a question, but decides that if she is old enough to
ask the question, then she is old enough to get a straight answer. He
proceeded to tell her all about the "birds and the bees." When he
finished explaining, the little girl was looking at him with her mouth
hanging open. The father asked her, "Why did you ask this question?"
The little girl replied, "Mom told me to tell you that dinner would be
ready in just a couple of secs."
