Hi,
It was another beautiful day in Chiang Rai. Hot, humid, the same old dance but without air or a fan. Some things got fixed and some stayed the same, after repairs. Hmm.
I think a record was set on the number of responses to "Three Times a Lady" by The Commadores. It was also covered by Kenny Rogers among the many.
For the weekend see if you know this one: "I'm __ __ __ where the rain gets in, and stops my mind from wandering where it will go..." Clues: Four guys, I can relate, easy as pie. OK, go for it.
It all started last night. The rain came in a mild fashion. There were no high winds so we were not on 'alert', just enjoying the sound of it. Then a sound from within got our attention. A very slow single drip, drip, drip coming from the ceiling of the closet. What? We knew that Wit (handy guy) was coming over to work on a wall light so we'd have him look into it.
When Wit arrived this morning we had him start with the 'drip'. Apparently one of the roof tiles had shifted during the last windstorm and was letting a bit of water inside. At least it wasn't a gapping hole. After the roof repair we wanted him to fix a ceiling light that didn't work. I'd changed the bulb and nothing happened. Here's where lack of language can really be a barrier. Wit somehow didn't get the fact that the socket was bad. He decided to test it with his screwdriver and all the power went out. He had to carry the tall ladder down the stairs, reset the circuits, carry the ladder back up and try and figure out what went wrong. This kept happening until we were ready to just let the light be dead. He replace a switch and something else and still no light. Oh, and power was off for long periods in the middle of the day. This was not cool at all. (Ha) Oh well, the roof got fixed and that was the most important part.
This afternoon we had a visit from Ghan. She does alterations on clothes and she brought some things she'd been working on. One of the things she finished was a waist bag I had her re-create for me. I have a couple of these bags made with colorful stitching from the Hill Tribes but I wanted one in all black. It has a big pocket on each side for carrying things. I can wear it with anything and not clash.
Tonight we got big rain. We're on a break (Ha) right now. It would be a perfect time to take Daku out, but he's sleeping. Last night he didn't want to go downstairs when it was his bed time. We decided to let him sleep upstairs in the bedroom. This is big because he's usually kept in the bathroom if he stays. He slept until 5a.m. Then he was all wide awake, sticking his nose in the bed and wanting to go out. I took him down and brought him back and he was cool until 6. Then I took him to the kitchen to wait for Boot and BamBam. We're going to try it again tonight. The ultimate goal was to have a dog that stayed with us at night. He's still pretty young, but if it works it's even better that the pattern begin now.
We have a rainy weekend ahead. Hope yours is dry. Have a Wonderful WeekEnd. Oh yeah, there's 'Funnies'.
Peace,
Danny
A lesson about blood flow and circulation
A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, he said: "Now, students, if I stood on my head the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I should turn red in the face."
"Yes, sir," the boys said.
"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"
A little fellow shouted, "'It's because yer feet ain't empty."
