Whatever

Hi,

It was doggie day at the vets, work started on the pool, and we went on a tile hunt. The sky was clear and blue all day, and that was refreshing. There was also lots of activity at the 'beach'.

I was very impressed with how many of you got the song right away. I guess there's no stumping you. This line might help the rest: "...He said he saw a girl that looked a lot like you up on Choctaw Ridge, and she and __ __ was throwing somethin' off the Tallahatchie Bridge" Clue: This is an ode which is a kind of story. The blanks are somebody's name. Hmm, did I give too much away? We'll see.

This morning the pool 'expert' arrived with a woman who I think is his wife. They started working on the new pipes that will go in the pool. During the course of the day they found the source of the leak. It was above ground and hidden behind some plants. We were left with the decision of just fixing the leak, which was caused by poor workmanship, or going ahead with the original plan. We were told, in the classic Thai way, that it was up to us. So, we chose to go with the big plan since there just might be the same workmanship under the pool. Better safe than sorry.

While they were starting on the pool we packed up the dogs and headed to the vet for our weekly visit. BamBam is still having problems with her skin so we're keeping a close eye on that. Daku is getting much better. We weighed both of them and Daku is now weighing in at 7.6 kilos (16.75 lbs). He's almost half as heavy as BamBam and he's only 9 weeks old. He's going to be a big dog. We also got him a big boy collar today. There are many times when we need something to hold on to when trying to gather him up.

This afternoon we were told that it would be a good idea to go and look for the tile that will cover the pipes in the pool. We were given a size and the color option was ours. This brought back many memories of when we built the house and had to spend hours at the tile store. We found what we thought was black tile at the right measurement. In the dim light of the warehouse it looked black. When we got home and saw it in the light of day it was dark brown. It just wouldn't work against the dark blue of the pool so we had to take it back. There was no black tile which meant we had to go to a second store. Same story and on to the third and fourth stores. So far, we haven't found what we need. I guess tomorrow the hunt will continue. Ugh.

The bridge we travel over to get to town goes over the Mae Kok river. The level is very low and it has become a beach for the locals. Today we could see lots of adults and kids playing in the water in their clothes, and many umbrellas on the shore. One of these days we'll have to go down and check it out at ground level.

In town all the clothing shops have big displays of colorful Hawaiian shirts. This is part of the 'dress code' for Songkran. I'm not sure how this came to be, but it's really something to see. Sounds like a photo opportunity to me. Hmm.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

Peace,

Danny
