Tension

Hi,

Well, looks like we're havin' a heatwave just like the folks in Southen California and India, just to mention a few spots. How fitting, as we approach Earth Day. Hmm. We had a nice weekend filled with swimming and hanging out with the dogs.

I guess I was wrong to assume that you would know the weekend song. (Ha) It was "The Wind Cries Mary" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Lane was the only one to write me with the answer. Maybe you know this one:
"Though I've tried before to tell her of the feelings I have for her in my heart. Every time that I come near her I just lose my nerve as I've done from the start. __ __ __ __ __ __ __, everything she does just turns me on..."
Hint: This band from across the pond had an arresting string of hits. This one is all about a guy who just can't seem to connect with the love of his life.

Saturday we took Daku to the vet because he had a hurt toe. He was brave about it, but if we touched it he let out a little yelp. Just couldn't see him like that. It turns out it was a toenail that must have been jammed or something. Dr. Arnon gave him a shot and he's been fine since. Oh, we weighed him since it had been a week since the last time and we knew he was bigger. At 3 months old he now weighs 25 pounds. Oh my, he's going to be a big dog. He has a very deliberate pattern before he goes to sleep. Whether it's in the morning, afternoon or night he always smacks his paw in his water bowl to the point where there's a puddle on the floor and then crashes in the puddle. He knows how to stay cool.

Speaking of staying cool, it's been really hot for the last three days. For us that means planning any outside trips based on the coolness of the destination. Like Sunday, when we were trying to decide where to each lunch. There were a couple of options but they were all the typical Thai style 'indoor/outdoor places where you just can't avoid the heat. We settled on the Pizza Company downtown. We hadn't been there in a while so that's where we ate. We had our usual cheeseless pizza (I know, not really pizza without cheese) and some chicken sticks. Their delivery guys were real busy that afternoon.

Having the pool in operating condition has been a real treat during this heat. Afternoon swims take the mind off the heat and provide a relaxing break in the day. Of course the relaxing comes after the laps. Today Boot let the dogs out while we were swimming and Daku charged right over to the edge to see what we were doing. It's only a matter of time before he dives in. Golden Retrievers are 'water dogs' but we're hoping he doesn't know that.

Have a 'Cool' Week.

Peace,
Danny
