Hi,
We had an interesting, busy Friday. There was another trip to the internet provider, a car hunt and an evening swim. Another one of those great days in Chiang Rai.
I suppose we could call this the week you didn't sing. Oh, we had a few with the right answers, but most of you just didn't bother to write. (Ha) The song you just missed was "You'll Lose A Good Thing" by Barbara Lynn.
For the weekend I guess it's time for an easy one. "What would you do if I sang out of tune, would you stand up and walk out on me?" Clue: This song has two hit versions. Of course I'm looking for the original but you can mention the other one. We've done it before but this week cries for help.
I have grown to accept the fact that the internet in Thailand is slower than what I left in America. What we've been using feels fast by comparison to the earlier systems but when it doesn't work, I want to scream. Oh, for a broadband cable that's super fast and always on. (555) All that to say that I had to make another trip to the CAT office this morning. I took a print-out of the connection log so they could see the short duration of some of the hook-ups. Calls were made but it's still the same. Maybe I'll get some satisfaction next week. Ugh.
After reading my survey of driving in Chiang Rai, Lisa decided she wants to start driving here. (Ha) Actually, she's been considering 'independence' for some time. Today we went 'looking'. We started with a large used car lot on the highway north of town. We wanted to see what the going price might be for a recently owned vehicle. Then we went to the Toyota dealership and checked out new cars. There was really one car we were looking at, and it's called the Toyota Vios. It's a small 4-door with lots of safety features and runs on Gasohol. Our friend Ty told us to shop around and then she'd call her friend. Later, when she brought Napa for her ballet lesson, she got on the phone and did what she does. Bottom line is, she can get us a discount on the car we like with a few added extras. The woman is amazing. What was really interesting was how we were treated at the dealership. There was no hustle, no pressure, just listening to what we wanted and answering our questions. Hmm.
We ended our day with a first time sunset swim. There was just a glow in the sky, the yard was silent and the water was warm. It's the first time we've been in the water with the underwater lights on. Pretty cool, although now we wish we had some different colors besides bright white. May start hitting the pool twice a day. Hmm.
Have a Wonderful WeekEnd. Now it's time for 'rehashed' Funnies ('cause you didn't send me anything)
Peace,
Danny
Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?
Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii?
Why are there flotation devices under plane seats instead of parachutes?
Why do fat chance and slim chance mean the same thing?
If you can't drink and drive, why do you need a driver's license to
buy liquor, and why do bars have parking lots?
Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations?
How does the guy who drives the snowplow get to work in the mornings?
If 7-11 is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, why are there locks
on the doors?
