Friends

Hi,

Tuesday morning, watching the weather reports, we thought we were back in Thailand.  Not that we get such comprehensive reports on TV, but just the idea that rain was on the way was shocking.  We did get a little rain but it was gone in a flash.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song was “Daddy’s Home” by Shep & The Limelights.  It was the answer song to “A Thousand Miles Away” by The Heartbeats.  Both groups were the same singers and both songs are musically very close together.  Here they are for your listening pleasure: “A Thousand…"  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HQBDRSryUA  and “Daddy’s Home”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJMeqjJBr9s   It’s time for the weekly ‘Zany Day’ song:  “Uptown got its hustlers, the bowery got its bums, 42nd street got Big __ Walker he’s a pool shootin’ son of a gun.  Yeah, he big and dumb as a man can be, but he stronger than a country hoss.  And when the bad folks all get together at night, you know they call Big __ boss, just because.  And they say: ‘You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind.  You don’t pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger and __ __ __ __ __ __.”  Clue:  The last word of the title is a name.  The singer has the same name.

We had breakfast with Steve and Pam at Dinah’s.  We always have at least one meal and a couple of coffee dates at Dinah’s.  It’s another one of those ‘throwback’ places that brings up memories from another time.  We had fun looking at pictures of each other’s dogs, kids and grandkids.

Then we did something we have been putting off for years.  Lisa has a collection of VHS tapes from her Dancer Days.  There are many memories on those tapes, but without a good machine to play them they are useless.  It addition to that, time takes it’s toll on tape and they will turn to dust before we know it.  So, I found a place very close to us that will transfer them to a digital thumb drive (which will be easy to take home).

We found a new ‘Take Away’ lunch spot.  The deli counter at Sprouts.  Now we can get a healthy sized turkey sandwich at a reasonable price.

Today we’ll be having lunch and dinner at Treehouse Thai in Culver City.  Our friend Diane is meeting us for lunch and Valley Cousins Martha and ‘The Girls’ (sounds like a singing group) will be there for dinner.  We haven’t had Thai food in a few days so this will be cool.

The photo for today was taken at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, in the women’s toilet (that’s what they call it).  Note: I did not take this photo (555).

Cat tells us that her summer English studies are going well.  She has homework every day and she’s 'studying like it’s science’, which is a good approach.  She is enjoying Oakland.

It Feels like a Wacky Wednesday.

                      Peace,
                                Danny
