Hi,
I had put in a request for a little rain but it got out of hand this weekend. Sunday night we had a major storm.
Well, the 'Old School Friday' song was "Louie, Louie" as recorded by Richard Berry & The Pharaohs. If you've never heard this version go over to Youtube and search for it. I guess most of you would love some 'Easy Monday' about now so here we go: "Spring was never waiting for us, girl. It ran one step ahead as we followed in the dance... __ __ is melting in the dark, all the sweet green icing flowing down. Someone left the cake out in the rain..." Hint: Sitting under a tree in a famous place, in the rain, writing a sad song, pondering lost love. The writer had recently arrived from Phoenix.
The big news in Chiang Rai was the major rain storm over the weekend. It was one of those sideways 'monsoon' type things that blew things around. There was also lots of lightning and thunder. BamBam spent the entire night with us, first under a chair and then next to me. The yard was flooded in places, but quickly drained. It started up again today but not as heavy. It was to be day two for the sewer update, but they had to go home when the rain began.
In other news, the car will go to the hospital on Wednesday and our friends from America are in Bangkok seeing the sights and will arrive tomorrow.
Sunday afternoon I helped Tatt take some boxes to a friend's house in the village. It was weird driving up the narrow soi near our house. It's a one lane road and there is not much car traffic. We saw mostly bicycles and motorbikes. When we got to the house one of his classmates greeted us and they had a short conversation. It sounded like she was speaking a mixture of Thai and Akha and when I asked Tatt, he told me she was 'from the mountain', meaning she was from a Hill Tribe. I guess my 'language ear' is getting better. The school year is over for Tatt and he will officially graduate on the 25th. At that time we will get to meet his parents and family.
Saturday we were in the lighting department at a major store when we ran across a light that required a photo. Ever since our days with Disney on Parade (another story), we notice the characters. Looking closer at the light I noticed that there was a spelling error. I'm sure you'll see it too.
What?
I'm looking forward to seeing the sights of Chiang Rai with Bruce and Danielle. I will get to see new things and revisit some favorites. I'll take you along for the ride.
Have a Great Week.
Peace,
Danny
