Teacher

Hi,

Today we experienced a mixed bag of weather, two markets, and the bus station.  We also had a slow drive past a school parade.

Well, not surprised that my brother got this one.  Nobody else has seemed to figure the 'Zany Day' song.  Hmm.
"Now we're doing a hundred twenty, as fast as I can go.  The Rambler pulled along side of me as if we were going slow. The fella rolled down his window, and yelled for me to hear:  'Hey buddy how do I get this car outa second gear?'  __ __, __ __, his horn went __ __ __."  Hint:  I know I said no hints, blah, blah, but think 'Roadrunner'.

This morning we went to Makro right after the rush hour traffic.  There was still some stop-and-go but it didn't take long.  They frequently have special items in the center of the main aisle.  Today there was a coat rack that caught our eye.  The whole thing was packed into a small, very heavy box.  Hmm, some assembly required.  (555)  More on that later.

As we drove south on the Super Highway we realized that it was flowing smoothly.  Hey, all the lanes are open.  This was a very pleasant change.  Our next stop was the bus station.  We're going to Chiang Mai on Monday and we wanted to make sure we could get tickets.  Initially we were going to just stay in Chiang Mai for one night and come back Tuesday afternoon.  The bus we wanted was sold out so we're coming back on Wednesday morning.  That will give us more time to see things and visit with friends.  It's been a long time since we've been there.

After a stop at our favorite place, the vegetable market, we headed home.  A block past the Clock Tower I noticed that the traffic seemed to be backing up.  I also saw some kids in scout uniforms walking in the street.  As we got closer we realized it was a parade.  Only one side of the street was open to vehicles so it was tricky.  The kids looked like junior high age, and they were led by a band made up of elementary school kids.  A picture is worth a thousand words so here's the band:

As we drove past the golf course, heading for home it began to rain hard.  When we got to the Pink Bridge we saw about five motorbikes at the side of the road, their riders unpacking raincoats.  There was one woman on a bicycle standing under a tree with her umbrella, waiting it out.  When we got to the other side of the bridge it was dry.  The storm was moving north and hadn't crossed the river yet.  Everyone going south got a big shock because it looked like such a nice day.  (555)

This afternoon Natty came over with samples for the art project.  She had two of the six T-shirts that will be a line of Chiang Rai souvenirs.  The artwork is, of course, by our resident artist.  In the near future you will get a chance to preview the images.  They're quite different from the usual offerings and Natty is going to handle the marketing.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

                    Peace,
                               Danny
