Friday Funnies

Hi,

Today we had beautiful cloud formations that didn't bring any rain.  There were more visitors from 3BB, and we got to see Lisa on TV.

It looks as though 'Bad Ass Bass' was a washout this week.  Only one person responded to "Ain't That Peculiar" by Marvin Gaye.  Lisa knew the song but thought it was too old.  I guess I'll have to move up a few decades.
'Old School Friday' is still going to go back in time.  Here's something for all the old people (555)  "Get outta that bed, wash your face and hands (repeat).  Well, you get in that kitchen, make some noise with the pots 'n pans.... I said __ __ __ __, (repeat x 2) Well, you won't do right to save your doggone soul."  Clue:  This one goes way back, early R&R by an artists whose first name was Big.  There are three action words in the title that require movement. Hmm.

We got a call this morning from a different tech from 3BB.  He was trying to find our house.  Boot finally was able to guide him to us and two guys came upstairs to fix our internet.  They worked from both of our laptops at the same time, going to the company site, changing this and that.  The final result was that both of them were watching Youtube, showing us that it worked.  I don't know why, but that seems to be the supreme test when they check your internet.  It zipped along and then, after they had left, went right back to the same pattern.  This is getting very frustrating.  If you don't get a response from me it's not that I'm ignoring you.  I'm waiting for a signal.

After a trip to the bank, we went to 4Cope Gallery to take care of some framing business.  While Lisa was talking to Khun Lar, I heard the distinctive sound of a modified Harley.  When the sound stopped close by, I went to investigate.  It was a late model, tricked-out bike with an 'Orange County Choppers' air filter cover.  Lots of chrome, special wheels and a rear tire fatter than the one on our car.  Climbing off of this beast was an older Thai gentleman dressed in leather and scarves.  He was a classic.  I had so many questions that couldn't be answered.  I took Lisa to see the bike as he was getting back on.  He asked us where we were from and all that stuff.  Then he putted off down the street, too cool for words.

Our friend Jaffee called to tell Lisa that the interview that she did at her Chiang Mai art exhibit would be airing tonight at 7pm on ASEAN TV.  Unfortunately, we don't get that channel but we called around and our friend Lisa said we could come over and watch it.  The interview was the first segment of the Arts & Music show and lasted about seven minutes without interruption.  There were lots of shots of Lisa's cast acrylic prints in the gallery.  Most of the questions were edited out so it was a nice flowing presentation of the artist discussing her work and her motivations.  They have assured us that we'll get a DVD copy.

There is an official sign on the Super Highway indicating the directions to the "Chiang Rai Navel Pillar".  We have no idea what this is or what they meant to say.  When I find out, so will you.

Tomorrow evening is the opening of another photographic exhibit, "Peoples of the Mekong" and it will feature two artists.  One of the artists is our dear friend Blue Johnson.  The exhibit will be held at Le Meridien Resort here in Chiang Rai.  All of the photos are of Hill Tribe people, taken over numerous visits to the northern region.  After the opening of the exhibit we will attend a dinner meeting of SKAL, the international tourism and travel organization.

Sunday we're having a couple of friends over who are involved with The Sold Project.  They've been training staff and volunteers and it will be a chance for them to have a swim, some lunch, and relaxation.

Have a Wonderful WeekEnd.     It's time for the 'Funnies'.

                 Peace,
                            Danny
