Hi,
Chiang Rai had the usual weather over the weekend. Sunny and hot all day with an afternoon storm. We did our usual thing. Lisa worked on more cast acrylic prints, I tended the dogs, and cleaned plant life from the pool. This morning the dogs were in 'hunter' mode.
Well, looks like a bunch of you flunked the 'Old School' test. The song was "Venus" by Frankie Avalon. I guess we'll have to do a real 'Easy Monday' song this week. "When I'm drivin' in my car, and a man comes on the radio, tellin' me more and more about some useless information, supposed to inspire my imagination, I can't get no, oh no no no..."
Hint: It's a one word title by a group from across the pond, named after a blues song. Hmm.
Our rain day count had been short for most of the month, but we're catching up fast. It seems like we're getting some everyday. The nice thing about it is that it comes in the late afternoon, so we can still do things without getting wet. Today it looked like rain, then blew away. It waited until tonight to do its thing. It started with big wind and then blowing rain.
Last week Lisa got a phone call from our young artist friend, Patchara. She was still in her family's village, up on the mountain, but she just called to say hello. It was a very nice surprise.
Saturday the yard crew came and did their thing. They worked until dark, when the rain came. Usually, they will keep working until they're done, but this time they had to stop. Most of what they do was taken care of so it wasn't really a problem. The tree that got 'tipped' in the wind has a new support and should be just fine. It's amazing that everything is still standing and looking so good when I consider how fierce the wind is each day.
Speaking of wind, some things do not withstand the wind. Yesterday morning, when I went out with the dogs, they both charged out to the front yard as usual. They focused their attention around one of the small palm trees. When I went to investigate, I found a little bird's nest on the ground and Daku was being a dog. I won't go into details, but it was a predator thing. Straight out of 'Wild Kingdom'.
When we first moved into the house I wondered if we would have any birds. Today we have at least seven different kinds of birds that seem to call this place home. Everything from Greater Coucal, the size of a large raven, to tiny little sparrow types. It's wonderful to have them around, but sometimes clean-up can be aggravating. Hmm.
Have a Great Week.
Peace,
Danny
