Hi,
Well, it hasn't been the warmest welcome one could hope for, literally. It's cold and I'll mention it as long as I have to wear three layers of clothes to be comfortable.
How ironic that we would be humming "Santa Baby" as Eartha Kitt's life came to an end. Who knew? She had quite a life and it's worth reading about, for many reasons. It will make you go 'Hmm'.
Let's end the year with an oldie that some will know. "Boy meets girl and love begins. Oh what a feeling you get from within..." Clue: By a group led by a 'Little'. There's a number in the title.
Friday we traveled over the hill to spend the afternoon with the Valley Cousins. It was a really cool time. We met at Jenny and Nowell's. They're setting up vegetable gardens in their yard and 'greening' the house. Nice to see commitment. Martha made a platter of chicken mole, which was my favorite. There were iPhones all around the table and I was duly tortured. (Ha) Joel was blown away when we gave him a 'Thai copy' of a Star Gate movie. It was especially funny to him since he writes the music and knew the Thai version was unauthorized. (oh, what have I done? 555).
Saturday was another busy day. My mom came over to see 'The Boys' in the morning. They had a good visit and she now knows how to set up an overhead projector and work an iPod Nano, courtesy of Mr. August.
Then it was off to lunch with our friends Paul and Joy. The last time we were in town they got married. When we return in the summer, we'll meet their new family member. And the beat goes on.
Saturday evening we took Darryl Jr. and C-Bass to dinner. This little dinner is turning into a tradition. This is the third year in a row that we've done it. After we picked Darryl up, there was an eerie glow in the back seat. Between C-Bass and his iPod Touch and Darryl with his Sidekick, it must have looked a little strange from outside. Both devices have large screens and gave off a blue/white cast. We ate at Dinah's again this year. I had breakfast for dinner. Only in America.
Sunday was spent catching up on what's happening with old friends. That's been a big part of the trip each time. I have to hunt you down for information since you don't seem to be able to send me mail and keep me up to date. (Ha) Every day you get all my business, and I sit over there, staring at the river, wondering.... Ok, you can stop laughing now.
It's the last week of the year. Have a good one.
Peace,
Danny
