Amused

Hi,
This morning it was seriously cold. Keep in mind that the lows are not what you would probably call low, but we have finally acclimated and now low 50's seems quite cold. Up and down the streets there are make-shift vendors with racks of warm jackets for sale. It warms up during the day, but the mornings are rough.
There's nothing like a popular song from the 60's to get everybody rockin'. Yesterday's song was no exception. Need more?
"I'm so glad that she's my little girl. She's so glad, she's telling all the world, that her baby buys her things, you know. He buys her diamond rings, you know, she said so. She's in love with me and __ __ __, mmm. Hint: It speaks for itself. Oh, they came from across the water.
There are things I keep meaning to tell you about, and then I forget. I'll bet that never happens to you. (Ha) Anyway, there's a junior high school behind us through the trees, and they have what could be called a Marching Concert Band that plays some very complex, modern arrangements and they sound good. Sometimes we hear them practicing, but the other night we got a little concert and it was really cool.
Tonight we're being serenaded from across the river by various bands. Some of it's cool and some is just bass that rumbles along. We're not sure what the occasion is, but it might be a week long thing in honor of the King's birthday on Friday. Decorations are up all over town. This is a major event in the year.
And speaking of major events, it looks as though the political impasse may have been resolved. What happens from here is anybody's guess, but the ruling party and two others were ordered to be dissolved by a Constitutional Court because of election fraud. That means that the airport is being 'released' and should be operational in about two weeks. That's according to the Bangkok Post. If you want to get a dose of what's going on you can go to www.bangkokpost.com or www.nationmultimedia.com
They're both in English.
Tomorrow we get up bright and early (and cold) and head for the bus station. We're making a run down to Chiang Mai for one of our overnighters.
Now it's time for a Happy Tuesday.

Peace,
Danny
