Humor

Hi,

With temps ranging from 46 to 61, you can see why I’m missing Chiang Rai weather (61 to 84)

A few of you knew the ‘Zany Day’ song by The Coasters.  It’s the tale of a local entertainer trying to get by (555).
“She had a ruby on her tummy and a diamond big as Texas on her toe, wo wo.  She let her hair down and she did the hoochie koochie real slow, wo wo.  When she did her special number on a zebra skin I thought she’d steal the show, wo wo, singing yeah yeah!  Yeah yeah!… She did a triple somersault and when she hit the ground, she winked at the audience and then she looked around.  She had a picture of a cowboy tattooed on her spine, saying Phoenix, Arizona, nineteen forty-nine.  Yeah, but let me tell you people, __ __ doesn’t work there anymore…”

For as long as I can remember, New Years morning meant turning on KTLA, Channel 5, and watching the Rose Parade.  Yesterday was no exception.

We had a plan to meet Cousin Wendy at Dinah’s for a late breakfast.  The joint was jumping, but we managed to get a table.  Wendy is an animal lover, so we had lots to talk about.  I told her how I realized that a Facebook friend of mine is also a friend of hers, though they’ve never met in person.  They both react to the same stories, from hundreds of miles apart.  We did the family updates and learned new stuff.

Several of our friends have been telling us about the rising cost of living in California.  Coming back every 5 or 6 months makes this very apparent.  At first we thought it was just the travel related expenses, but it seems to be across the board.

Since it was a holiday, not much was open, but we did drop by ‘Thrifty’s’ and pick up a few things.  The rest of the day was spent inside.  Or should I say, “…inside watching various bowl games.”  One might get the impression that there was too much football, just looking at the number of teams and what it takes to win a championship.  But then, I’ve got nothing to do with it.

The photo of the day was taken from the balcony at The Big Brown House, looking north into the back yard.

This morning we have a breakfast, and then a lunch.  Things are heating up as we ‘round the halfway mark.

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

                     Peace,
                               Danny
