Think

Hi,

Though it started out slow, the weather finally ramped up to another hot day in Chiang Rai.  Clouds did their afternoon dance, looking like rain, but rode off with the handsome breeze.

The ‘Easy Monday’ song was “Summer In The City” by The Lovin’ Spoonful, who took their name from a blues standard.  Here’s this week’s ‘Zany Day’ song:  “__ __, play clean as country water.  __ __, play wild as mountain dew.  __ __, been playin’ since they’s babies.  __ __, get work before they’re two.  Well, there’ thirteen hundred and fifty two guitar pickers in Nashville.  And they can pick more notes than the number of ants on a Tennessee anthill.  Yeah, there’s thirteen hundred and fifty-two guitar cases in Nashville.  And any one that unpacks his guitar could play twice as better than I will.”  Hint:  There’s a city involved, and the musicians who live there.

We met our friend Lisa for coffee at Chivit Tamma Da.  It was a morning of laughter and revelation.  The three of us seem to have a collective sense of humor that keeps building on itself.  Sometimes we were like a table of kids, and that made it even funnier.  On the revelation side, Lisa is a shoe designer and today we learned that there is such a thing as a ‘shoe technician’.  A person who knows all of the construction details involved in making a shoe.  Some of the best in the world are in Northern Brazil.  Many have been recruited to work in China because of their expertise in making excellent shoes.  Lisa and her business partner are negotiating with such a person to help with the latest designs for their company based in Bangkok.  Very interesting.

This afternoon, while walking the energetic dog, I snapped the photo below.  It’s the construction directly behind us.  Note the farmers to the right of the house.

After my meeting, Lisa and I went to the Night Bazaar for dinner at Sawadee Restaurant and then did some light shopping.   As always, it was nice to see some of our long-time friends.  Many of them asked Lisa about her ankle and the Scarf Lady got a big laugh when we told her that now we were going to America. The last time we visited she had just come back. When we waved to Watch Guy, we both did an arm movement signifying that we were watching Wimbledon Tennis.

It feels like a Wacky Wednesday.

                         Peace,
                                   Danny
