Universe

Hi,

We had another clear day today.  It's so ironic that a few weeks ago I was complaining about all the rain, and now an evening shower would be totally welcome.

This week's 'Zany Day' tune generated a huge response.  The song was released in 1955 and I know some of you were just babies back then.  Nice to see some oldies live on.  "I got a gal, named Daisy, she almost drives me crazy.  Got a gal, named Daisy, she almost drives me crazy.  She knows how to love me, yes indeed.  Boy you don't know what she's doin' to me, __ __...."  Hint:  I'm not sure I can go beyond yesterday's hint.

Yesterday's message closed with my usual sign-off for your Thursday (in America), but it was only Wednesday.  Hmm, nobody said anything.  You're slipping (555).

It was a fairly quiet day around the Big Brown House.  This afternoon the four of us, Lisa, Cat, Blue and I drove up to the main Post Office for our area.  Lisa mailed all of the information for the catalogue that will be in the upcoming art exhibit she is having with her father, Joe.  The catalogue will be created and printed in Chiang Mai.  We will go there to go over the proofs when they are completed.  There's a lot of work involved in getting all of the elements together.  Aside from photos of the art, there are the bios for two artists, a description of the process (the cast acrylic print), and acknowledgements to all those who contributed to the effort.  It would be a lot to do in just one language, but all of that is in Thai as well.  That means making sure the translation is clear and appropriate and that lines of text are broken in just the right places.  We are fortunate to have so many friends willing to help.

As we were leaving the house on our little road trip, Cat pulled out a CD and asked if it was my songs.  It was a collection that was compiled by my long-time musical friend Michael Deak.  The music was from demo sessions back in 1970 and it brought back many memories.  There were songs that I had forgotten, and some musical moments that are still quite wonderful.

Tomorrow is the day we're supposed to get the water machine finally working.  They called again, but changed the time.  We're not holding our breath.  The next step will be a trip back to the store.

The forecast from some weather services is calling for rain, or "small rain nearby" this weekend.  As long as Sunday is clear we have no problem.  Sunday is Cat's birthday and she has planned a whole day for us all.  Tomorrow I'll give you a rundown on what we'll be doing.  It should be lots of fun.

Today's photo was taken by Blue on the road to our house.  We are passing what we now call 'The Chiang Rai Riviera'.  There is a canal to the right of the road, and behind the trees and brush there are little make-shift houses made mostly of corrugated tin.  The people living there have created a mini-village of sorts.  There is a little eating place and two levels of dwellings.  There are the river-front 'cottages' and the 'cliff-side' homes.  Amazing Thailand.

Have another Thrilling Thursday.

                 Peace,
                           Danny
