Understand

Hi,

It's not raining in Los Angeles, but it's still cold at night. Tuesday was just another busy day in the city. Lunch with a little family, errands and shopping for the dogs, an acupuncture session, and dinner with cousins.

The 'Easy Monday' song was "Laughter In The Rain" by Neil Sedaka. Time now to return to the 'Summer of Love', and another song to get stuck in your head. "Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane, ain't got time to take a fast train. Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home, 'cause my baby..." Hint: I couldn't finish the line without giving it away. The group is named after something we used to save for prizes. Hmm, got cereal?

Until I get up the nerve to apply for a Thai drivers license, I have to carry an International Driving Permit. It basically verifies that I'm licensed to drive in California. Some say it doesn't matter, but I'm not taking any chances. Today I renewed mine.

We were back at Thai Boom for lunch with Paul, Joy, and Leilani. Little Leilani is now 17 months old and is walking (running), and talking up a storm. She has quite a vocabulary for her age. We had a nice visit, and as you might guess, Leilani got lots of attention. Seeing her every six months makes her evolution as a person quite apparent. It was a good time.

There are many things we take back to Thailand and the dogs are certainly on the list as shopping subjects. We found what we hope is a long lasting bone for Daku, and we bought more elk antlers for both dogs. Elk shed their antlers so it's a humane 'treat' for the doggies. Then there's the fire hose chew toy that may actually be a challenge for Daku. The boy can destroy almost any simple stuffed animal. We'll see.

Since the acupuncture I received in Thailand didn't really help the problem with my thumb, I decided to go to our old friend Amir for a few treatments. He spent a long time sticking me all over, not just the trouble area. I got what we laughingly refer to as a tune-up. I'll go back on Saturday for a final treatment.

In the evening we met with a Jenny and Nowell of the 'Valley Cousins'. Their son Sam came to visit us this year. As always, it was great to see them and share a meal while talking about our adventures and theirs. They brought us a beautiful piece of metal art from Haiti that is light weight and will travel well. I had to leave early due to a prior commitment, but Lisa got to spend more time with them. There just never seems to be enough time.

We have one more week in California before we head home. Needless to say, it will be full of visits, business, and time with 'The Boys'. C-Bass is now taking driving lessons, which is really bringing back memories. August started back to school on Monday and C-Bass starts today, so we will have to find time to hang out with them during this last week.

It's time for a Wacky Wednesday.

Peace,
Danny
